Morgan v. Hennigan Case ends.

May 31, 1990

U.S. District Court turns over all jurisdiction over the Boston public schools to the Boston School Committee and Boston School Department. After almost 16 years of overseeing the schools and issuing more than 400 orders covering all aspects of public education in the city, Judge W. Arthur Garrity subsequently tells the Boston Globe, “If I had the same submissions, the same briefs and arguments, given the same set of circumstances, I am not positive of this, but I do think that the same orders would have issued.”
